VERSES OF SURAH AL-FURQAN

RELATED TO SOCIAL ETHICS

(verse no 63-77)
 ‫ض َه ۡو ًنا َّو ِا َذا‬ ‫ر‬ ۡ َ ‫الرَّح ٰم ِن ا َّل ِذ ۡي َن َي ۡم ُش ۡو َن َع َلى ااۡل‬
ۡ ‫َو ِع َبا ُد‬
ِ
‫ط َب ُه ُم ۡال ٰج ِه ُل ۡو َن َقا ُل ۡوا َس ٰل ًما‬
َ ‫خا‬  َ

And the servants of the Most Merciful are those

who walk upon the earth easily, and when the
ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words
of] peace,
 ‫َوا َّل ِذ ۡي َن َي ِب ۡي ُت ۡو َن ِل َر ِّب ِه ۡم ُسجَّ ًدا َّو ِق َيا ًما‬

And those who spend [part of] the night to their

Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer]
 ۡ ‫ ​ َو َّال ِذ ۡي َن َي ُق ۡو ُل ۡو َن َر َّب َنا‬‫ِا َّن‬
َ ‫اص ِر ۡف َع َّنا َع َذ‬
‫اب َج َهـ َّن َم‬
‫ان َغ َرا ًما‬َ ‫ ​ َع َذا َب َها َك‬

And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the

punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is
ever adhering;
 ‫ِا َّن َها َسٓا َء ۡت ُم ۡس َت َق ًّرا َّو ُم َقا ًما‬

Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence."

‫ان َب ۡي َن ٰذ ِل َك َق َوا ًما‬‫ك‬
َ ََ ‫و‬ ‫ا‬ ۡ
‫رُو‬ُ
‫ت‬ ‫ق‬ۡ ‫ي‬‫م‬ۡ َ
‫ل‬
َ َ ِ ‫و‬ ‫ا‬‫و‬ۡ ُ
‫ف‬ ‫ر‬ ۡ
‫ُس‬ ‫ي‬‫م‬ۡ َ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬‫و‬ۡ ُ
‫ق‬ َ
‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ۡ َ
‫ا‬ ‫ا‬ۤ ‫َوا َّل ِذ ۡي َن ِا َذ‬

And [they are] those who, when they spend, do

so not excessively or sparingly but are ever,
between that, [justly] moderate
 َّ ۡ ۡ ٰ ٰ ‫هّٰللا‬
‫س ال ِت ۡى‬ َ ‫َوا َّل ِذ ۡي َن اَل َي ۡد ُع ۡو َن َم َع ِ ِال ًها ا َخ َر َواَل َيقتل ۡو َن النف‬
َّ ُ ُ
َ َ ۡ ٰ ۡ ۡ ۡ ُ ۡ ۡ ‫اَّل‬ ‫هّٰللا‬
‫َحرَّ َم ُ ِا ِبال َحـ ِّق َواَل َيزن ۡو َنۚ​ َو َمن يَّف َعل ذ ِل َك َيل َق اثا ًما‬

And those who do not invoke with Allah another

deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden
[to be killed], except by right, and do not
commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And
whoever should do that will meet a penalty.
 ‫ُض َع ۡف َل ُه ۡال َع َذابُ َي ۡو َم ۡال ِق ٰي َم ِة َو َي ۡخ ُل ۡد ِف ۡي ٖه ُم َها ًنا‬
ٰ ‫ي‬ ​ 

Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day

of Resurrection, and he will abide therein
humiliated -
 ‫هّٰللا‬ ٓ
ُ ُ‫صا ِل ًحـا َفاُ ٰول ِ ِٕٕٮـ َك ُي َب ِّدل‬
َ ‫اب َو ٰا َم َن َو َع ِم َل َع َماًل‬ َ ‫ِااَّل َم ۡن َت‬
ۡ ُ ‫هّٰللا‬ ٍ​ ‫ َس ِّي ٰا ِت ِه ۡم َح َس ٰن‬ 
‫رَّحي ًما‬ ِ ‫ان ُ َغف ۡو ًرا‬ َ ‫ت ؕ َو َك‬

Except for those who repent, believe and do

righteous work. For them Allah will replace their
evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving
and Merciful.
 ‫هّٰللا‬
‫صا ِل ًحـا َفاِ َّن ٗه َي ُت ۡوبُ ِا َلى ِ َم َتا ًبا‬ َ ‫َو َم ۡن َت‬
َ ‫اب َو َع ِم َل‬

And he who repents and does righteousness

does indeed turn to Allah with [accepted]
repentance.
 ۡ ‫رُّوا ِبال َّل ۡغ ِو َم‬
‫رُّوا ِك َرا ًما‬ ُّ ‫َوا َّل ِذ ۡي َن اَل َي ۡش َه ُد ۡو َن‬
ۡ ‫الز ۡو ۙ َر َو ِا َذا َم‬

And [they are] those who do not testify to

falsehood, and when they pass near ill speech,
they pass by with dignity.
‫رُّوا َع َل ۡي َها صُ ًّما َّو ُع ۡم َيا ًنا‬ ِ ‫رُوا ِب ٰا ٰي‬
ۡ ‫ت َر ِّب ِه ۡم َل ۡم َي ِخ‬ ۡ ‫َوا َّل ِذ ۡي َن ِا َذا ُذ ِّك‬

And those who, when reminded of the verses of

their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind.
 ‫اج َنا َو ُذ ِّرٰ ّي ِت َنا ُقرَّ َة‬
ِ َ ‫و‬ ‫ز‬ ۡ َ
‫ا‬ ‫ن‬ۡ ‫م‬ ِ ‫ا‬َ
‫ن‬ ‫ـ‬َ
‫ل‬ ‫ب‬ۡ ‫ه‬
َ ‫ا‬َ
‫ن‬ َّ
‫ب‬ ‫ر‬
َ ‫ن‬
َ ‫و‬ۡ ُ
‫ل‬ ‫و‬ۡ ُ
‫ق‬ ‫ي‬
َ ‫ن‬
َ ‫ي‬ۡ ‫ذ‬
ِ َّ
‫ل‬ ‫َوا‬
‫َا ۡعي ٍُن َّو ۡاج َعۡل َنا ِلۡل ُم َّت ِق ۡي َن ِا َما ًما‬

And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from

among our wives and offspring comfort to our
eyes and make us an example for the righteous."
 ٰ ۡ ٓ
ً ۡ َّ َ
‫رُوا َو ُيلق ۡو َن ِفي َها َت ِح َّية َّو َسل ًما‬ َ ‫اُ ٰول ِِٕٕٮـ َك يُج َز ۡو َنالغر َف َة ِب َما‬
ۡ ‫ص َب‬ ۡ ُ ۡ

Those will be awarded the Chamber for what

they patiently endured, and they will be
received therein with greetings and [words of]
peace.
 ‫ٰخ ِل ِد ۡي َن ِف ۡي َه​ا ؕ َح ُس َن ۡت ُم ۡس َت َق ًّرا َّو ُم َقا ًما‬

Abiding eternally therein. Good is the

settlement and residence.
 َ ‫ـؤا ِب ُك ۡم َر ِّب ۡى َل ۡواَل ُد َع ُٓاؤ ُكۚ​ۡم َف َق ۡد َك َّذۡب ُت ۡم َف َس ۡو‬
‫ف َي ُك ۡو ُن‬ ُ ‫ُق ۡل َما َي ۡع َب‬
‫ ِل َزا ًما‬

Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for

your supplication?" For you [disbelievers] have
denied, so your denial is going to be adherent.
