ANALOG TO DIGTAL

CONVERTER
COUNTER TYPE A/D CONVRTER
FLASH TYPE A/D
Tracking type A/D converter
Conversion time adc
• Is the time interval between the starting of the converstion and time
the comparator outputs becomes low
Successive approximation type adc
• Faster than other ADC except Flash type adc
• It has fixed conversation time which not dependent on analog input
value.
Dual slope A/D converter
Slowest converter
• Inexpensive bz does not require DAC
• Low sensitive to noise
• Low sensitive to variation in its component values caused by
temperature change

• Used in voltmeter, multimeters

Voltage to Frequency ADC
• 1v -> 5khz
• 1.5 -> 7.5khz
• 2.6 -> 13khz

• 4.65 V -> 23.25khz

A/D CONVERTER IC

IC:- ADC 0801

Specifications of A/D converters,
• Sampling Rate. This is the number of times the analog signal is sampled per
second.

• Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). This is the ratio between the signal power to the
quantization noise.

• Dynamic Range. This is the ratio between the maximum input power and the
minimum input power.

• DC Offset. This is the point at which the straight line passing through the transfer
characteristics of the analog-to-digital converter,
