prevent alveolar ridge atrophy in the lower incisor region

of the adjacent root
• 14 year old female with agenesis of lower central incisors with
partially closed edentulous space and alveolar ridge atrophy
•4 years post-treatment : No further deterioration of alveolar bridge,
gingiva well maintained
• Observed because of : strain between rigid miniscrew and elastic
bone surrounding it → increased bone turnover adjacent to mini
implant.
• Thus minisrews can be used as bone maintainers
