Dust of Snow

Introduction on the Topic

Dust of Snow is a poem written by Robert Frost. It is a highly


symbolic poem. In this poem it is shown that a simple thing
can change the mood of a person. In this poem the
atmosphere of the incident is during a snowy weather. Such
that there are different types of weather in different regions.
Through this presentation, different types of weather in
Himachal Pradesh and Kerala are compared.
Climate of Kerala

Kerala lies in the tropic region and is mostly subject to the type of
humid tropical wet climate. Its extreme eastern fringes experience
a drier tropical wet and dry climate. Average rainfall in Kerala is
3017 mm. Kerala averages some 120–140 rainy days per year. The
month which rains the most is July. The hottest month in Kerala is
April and the coldest month is July. There are mainly three types of
seasons in Kerala. They are Summer, Winter and Monsoon.
Summer Season  (March – June)

The summer season in Kerala begins towards the end of February. The weather is
humid in the plains and coastal areas. The temperature remains high throughout
the day, even in the night. The average maximum temperature hovers around
35°C, and the minimum temperature is around 28°C.

Winter Season (December – February)

The temperature starts falling during the latter part of November, as the
north east monsoons recede. Although the temperature in Kerala doesn’t
vary much during seasons, it is cooler during the winter months. Humidity
levels are low and so are the chances of rainfall.
Monsoon Season (July – August
and October – November)

Kerala enjoys two monsoon seasons. And one of them begins by the end of
June. This is known as the south west monsoon and it is the main rainy
season in Kerala. While the weather remains humid during this time of the
year, cool breeze from south-west and refreshing showers replace the
scorching Sun. The south west monsoon or Edavappathy is characterised by
torrential rains. The rivers are full of water, and the entire region gets a lush
green cover. The average maximum temperature during the season is 30°C,
and the minimum temperature is around 20°C. This monsoon season goes
away by mid-August, leaving a pleasant weather with occasional rainfall.
Kerala monsoon season returns in October with heavy downpours,
accompanied by thunder and lightning. It is the retreating monsoon season,
and it is known as the north east monsoon or Thulavarsham. And even with
heavy rainfall, the days remain hot and humid.
Climate of Himachal Pradesh

There is a huge variation in the climatic conditions of Himachal


Pradesh due to variation in altitude. The climate varies from hot
and sub-humid tropical in the southern low tracts, warm and
temperate, cool and temperate and cold glacial and alpine in the
northern and eastern high elevated mountain ranges. By October,
nights and mornings are very cold. Snowfall at elevations lasts
from December start to March end. The spring season starts from
mid February to mid April. The weather is pleasant and
comfortable in the season. The seasons and their duration in
Himachal Pradesh are as follows.
Himachal in Summer (March to June)

As the rays of the sun reveal the light of day, magical vistas of the nature
come into sight. Himachal in summer seems like a warm embrace with
cold winds still kissing your face as night falls. The cold no longer sends
shivers down your spine as you wrap your fingers around a steaming hot
cup of tea. This season makes you feel like you are snuggled up inside
your blanket as the air conditioner runs right on the perfect temperature.
Neither too hot nor cold. This is the best time to visit Himachal Pradesh if
you wish to venture outdoors and explore this quaint hamlet and the many
marvels that it is home to. 
Himachal in Winter
(December to February)

Himachal in winter is a snowy heaven. Be it indulging in some light-


hearted snowball fights with your family or cascading through sheets
of white as you engage in winter sports; this season is indeed a gift
for every traveller out there. With snowclad mountains and frozen
lakes, this hamlet is engulfed in all kinds of white. Witness the
breath-taking Khajjar lake at this time of the year as you trudge
along the crystalline ponds. 
Himachal in Monsoon
(July to September)

 Himachal in monsoon is all about petrichor with this hamlet clad


in dewy droplets giving it a fresh look. This time of the year is
characterised with freshly bathed streets as the rains knock at
your door like an eager friend urging you to come out and play.
Be it sitting amidst the mist in the hills at a quaint café and
sipping on a cup of tea or going out there and experiencing the
magic of the rains, Himachal in monsoon is a breath of fresh air.  
Conclusion

The climate of Kerala is very hot and tropical with excessive seasonal
rainfall. While the climate in Himachal Pradesh is hot and sub-humid
tropical. It is cold glacial in eastern and northern elevated mountains
ranges. During the month of October, snow starts falling on the high
mountains and the weather gets cold. Kerala has a moderate hot and
humid climate meanwhile Himachal pradesh has cold climate
throughout the year. In some parts of the state there is snowfall
throughout the year.
