 Nitrate (NO3-) is broken down into nitrite (NO2-) which is


then converted to nitric oxide (NO)

adding of nitrates and nitrites

 Nitric Oxide levels have been found to be lower
than normal for heart failure patients, so a raise
in Nitric Oxide levels could help.

Conclusion

 Nitrate supplementation has shown to increase performance of athletes in high intensity


training environments.
 No noticeable different in performance of recreational players and low intensity training
sports.
