Today’s Objective
1
Time Activity Today Goals
2
Find the mean and variance of the sampling distribution of the
sample means. 3

4
Differentiate the 8 steps in finding the mean and variance of
the sampling distribution of the sample means. 5

6
Computes probabilities corresponding to a given random
variables.
MEAN AND VARIANCE OF SAMPLING DISTRIBUTION
OF SAMPLE MEAN

● Is a frequency distribution using the mean computed from all

possible random samples of specific population.

MEAN AND VARIANCE OF SAMPLING DISTRIBUTION
OF SAMPLE MEAN

● The variance of the sampling distribution of the mean is the

population variance divided by N, the sample size the number of

scores used to compute a mean.\The standard error of the mean is
the standard deviation of the sampling distribution of the mean.
MEAN AND VARIANCE OF SAMPLING DISTRIBUTION
OF SAMPLE MEAN

● The difference between a sample distribution and a sampling

distribution is that each sample contains unique elements, so the

sample calculated value varies depending on which sample is
chosen. Different estimates of the parameter are provided by
these statistics. The sampling distribution describes the
distribution of these various values.

Step 3: Determine the

number of possible samples. 1

Substitute the 2
given, where
N = 5 (3,6,8,11 and 3
7)
n = 2 (sample size 4
is two)

- There are 10 possible 5
