MOISTURE LEVEL OF

MONITORING SYSTEM FOR

PLANTS
AIM OF THE PROJECT
• Planting a tree in an environment where the seed or the plant would not get
water adequately through natural sources like rain or ground water in its
initial phases has been always a matter of concern for tree planters. This is
where an autonomous moisture monitor for plants system can help.
The system timely monitors the moisture level of the soil. If at the time of
monitoring it comes to know that the moisture level of the soil is lower than
recommended then it gives an led indication.
Thus in this project with the help of a simple combinational circuit and a
sensor we can help save a plant by maintaining the moisture level of the soil
of the plant, thus keeping the plant healthy.
POWER SUPPLY
LED INDICATORS
• A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source. LEDs are used as
indicator lamps in many devices, and are increasingly used for lighting.
• LED lights have a variety of advantages :
• High-levels of brightness and intensity
• High-efficiency
• Low-voltage and current requirements
• Low radiated heat
• High reliability (resistant to shock and vibration)
• Water level indicator
Water sensors measure the volumetric water content in soil.] Since
the direct gravimetric measurement of free soil moisture requires
removing, drying, and weighting of a sample, soil moisture sensors
measure the volumetric water content indirectly by using some other
property of the soil, such as electrical resistance, dielectric constant,
or interaction with neutrons as a proxy for the moisture content.
• LM324
• Features:
• Internally Frequency Compensated for Unity Gain
• Large DC Voltage Gain: 100dB
• Wide Power Supply Range:
• LM358:
• Singal supply:3V~32V
• Or dual supply: ±1.5V~ 16V
• Input Common Mode Voltage Range Includes Ground
• BUZZER
• A buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device, which may be mechanical,
electromechanical, or electronic. Typical uses of buzzers and beepers include
alarm, timers and confirmation of user input such as a mouse click or
keystroke.
WORKING PROCEDURE:
WORKING
• Working of the circuit is simple and straight forward. The
comparator will compare the moisture level in plants with water
level indicator , it senses low, medium and high water levels , and
if the water levels are high, then the buzzer will activate , and for
low and medium the led will indicate the water level of the plant
• Advantages:
• Low power consumption
• This system helps in energy conservation
• Efficient and low cost design
• Disadvantages:
• This system requires periodic monitoring and maintenance
CONCLUSION
The project “MOISTURE LEVEL MONITORING SYSTEM FOR PLANTS”
was designed
such that the watering is done properly to the plants.
Integrating features of all the hardware components used have been developed in
it. Presence of every module has been reasoned out and placed carefully, thus
contributing to the best working of the unit. Secondly, using highly advanced IC’s
with the help of growing technology, the project has been successfully
implemented. Thus the project has been successfully designed and tested.
