• Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common entrapment neuropathy in upper
limbs which is caused by entrapment and compression of the median nerve at wrist within
the carpal tunnel.
• Clinical features:
• Patients with CTS are characterized by the
presence of wrist pain and paresthesia in the
distribution of the median nerve.
• Diabetes disease leads to vascular dysfunction,
reduced nerve blood flow and endoneurial
hypoxia.
EPIDEMIOLOGY
