Input Devices

 Keyboard
 Mouse
 Digital Camera
 Touch Screen
 Scanner
Keyboard

 Keyboard is the most common

input device used for entering text
data directly into a computer.
 A computer Keyboard is similar to
that of a typewriter , but it has
additional keys as well.
Mouse

 Mouse is another popular input

device used with modern
computers.
 It is basically a pointing device
used to provide input in graphic-
user interface operating systems.
 It is a small palm size box , which
appears bit like a mouse
Digital Camera

 Digital cameras are the latest type

of cameras which record and
stores photographic images.
 Many current models of digital
cameras are also capable to
capture sound or video, in addition
to still images
Touch Screen

 Touch screen is a special input

device, which only needs a finger
touch to supply input to the
system.
 Most of the item are coming in
market with touch screen ability.
Scanner

 Scanner is very popular input

device, which works more like a
photocopy machine.
 They are mainly used to transfer
printed or handmade pictures,
photograph and text-document
into computer.
Types of Scanners

 Flatbed scanner
 Photo scanner
 Portable scanner
 Document scanner
Flatbed scanner

 This is the most common and

simplest scanner available in the
market for home and business
applications.
 It is placed on a flat desk surface
and has a lid that can be flipped
open to view the glass that scans
the document.
Photo scanner

 If you are specifically looking for scanning images, pictures, old

photographs than you must go for the photo scanners as they will
give premium results.
 Some scanners come with their image editing software that offers
the highest resolution and clearing the old photographs but this
scanner is a bit expensive than the other scanners.
Portable scanner

 Portable scanners are handy and often come in a size that can fit in
your pocket.
 It can be carried anywhere and doesn’t require much power and
works when connected to your handheld devices vide USB port.
Document scanner

 As the name suggests, these scanners are used especially for

scanning multiple documents in large sizes.
 This is also called a sheetfed scanner since the documents are
placed in the feeder and not on the flatbed glass.
Output Devices

 Computer Monitor
 Speakers
 Printer
 Plotter
Computer Monitor

 A monitor is a softcopy output

device that produce output in the
form of a picture on the screen.
 It is just like a television screen
usually used to see programs on a
computer.
Speakers

 Speakers also produce softcopy

output in the form of sound.
 Speakers are used to play sound in
computers. They may be a built-in
or externally connected to your
system.
Printer

 Printer are the most important

output device, which produce
hardcopy output on different type
of papers.
 Two common wireless
technologies for printing are
Bluetooth and infrared.
Types of Printers

 Laser Printers
 LED Printers
 Dot Matrix
Laser Printers

 The laser printer was developed by Xerox in the 1960s when the

idea of using a laser to draw images onto a copier drum was first
considered.
 Laser printers are still widely used in large offices as they are
traditionally more efficient than inkjet printers.
LED Printers

 LED printers are similar to laser printers but use a light emitting
diode rather than a laser to create images on the print drum or belt.
Due to their fewer moving parts LED printer are often considered
more efficient and reliable than laser printers.
 Cheaper to manufacture than laser printers.
Dot Matrix Printer

 Dot matrix printer are the oldest established type of printers still
available on the market.
 Images and text are drawn out in tiny dots when a print head strikes
an ink-soaked cloth against the paper in the required pattern or
formation.
Plotter

 Plotter is an output device that

draws pictures on a large piece of
paper.
 The main advantage of plotter is
producing line drawings with a
very high degree or accuracy.
 Plotter are mainly used to print
maps, layouts, banners, and
reports that are very large in size.
 Types of Plotters

 Drum Plotters
 Flat Bed Plotters
Drum Plotters

 The drum plotter is a specialized output device whose name

indicates its function.
 This device works by moving a pen on a single axis track while the
paper moves on a cylindrical drum. Typically, the drum moves the
paper to the right and left, while the pen or pens draw up and down.
Flat Bed Plotters

 They work by fixing paper on a flat surface while pens move to

draw the image. The pen itself may be attached to an arm, allow it
to easily move over the paper.
 Flatbed plotters are available in larger sizes than drum plotters.
That makes them an ideal choice to create even larger documents,
particularly if you are consistently printing larger architectural or
CAD drawings.
