Introduction - RIL

 The Reliance Group, founded by Dhirubhai H. Ambani (1932-


2002), is India's largest private sector enterprise.

 The flagship company, Reliance Industries Limited, is a Fortune


Global 500 company and is the largest private sector company in
India.

 Group's activities span exploration and production of oil and gas,


petroleum refining and marketing, petrochemicals (polyester,
fibre intermediates, plastics and chemicals), textiles, retail and
special economic zones – Backward Integration.

 Largest polyester yarn and fibre producer in the world.


Journey So Far…….

 Result of amalgamation between two companies named Mynylon Ltd &


Reliance Textiles Industries Limited on 1st July 1975.
 Went Public with IPO on 23rd Jan, 1977.
 1992: Raised funds by pioneering foray into overseas capital markets
with first ever international GDR offering by an Indian corporate.
 1993: Reliance Petroleum Limited public issue - India's largest public
offering.
 1995: Net profit crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark.
 1996-97: First corporate in Asia to issue 50 and 100 years bond in US
debt market.
 1999-2000: Jamnagar Petrochemicals complex and bulk of integrated
refinery complex commissioned.
 Has acquired many small companies and has also entered into joint
ventures for technology etc. in its journey.
Recent Milestones:
2011:
BP to buy 30% in RIL and form a joint venture.

2010:
Haryana Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Reliance Industries (RIL) has
roped in a partner.

2009:
26th Nov – Bonus Issue… 1:1.
29.09.2009 ( Record Date) – Merger of RIL & RPL… swap ratio 1:16.
With the commissioning of the new refinery in its Special Economic
Zone (SEZ), Jamnagar has now become the petroleum hub of the
world. With 1.24 Million Barrels Per Day (MBPD) of nominal crude
processing capacity.
