RGB MODEL CMYK MODEL HSV MODEL


RGB Mode
Value of each pixel can be range from 0 to 255
If light blue purple color is applied to an pixel in image
the RGB values of that pixel is
 242 for red
For green 200
253 for blue
When values of three components or colors are equal the
result is a shade neutral gray
When its 255 then result is white
If value is 0 for all three the black color is result
CYMK Mode

After edited the image it is always better to convert into


CMYK mode because this mode is printer friendly
When image is converted from RGB to CMYK any color
outside the CMYK mode is adjusted automatically in
GIMP
HSV mode
Hue- represents color in their purest form, measured in
degrees
Saturation- refers to the purity of a color
Range is from 0 to 100
Saturation should b high
Value-represents brightness of a pixel
0-low brightness
100 –high brightness
Setting foreground and background
colors
Open an image
Click the foreground color box from the toolbox window
The change foreground color dialog box appears
select the shade from the vertical color spectrum bar.
Select blue shade. a thin horizontal line appears on the
point you click on the spectrum bar. the color box beside
spectrum bar now displays different shades of blue shade
Click the required color from the color box. a horizontal
line and a vertical line intersect at the point you click on
the color box

Select a file – open
Open image dialog box appears
Select a location where you have saved images
Select the image from the middle pane
Click the open button

Select blur tool from the toolbox
Select the blur radio button under convolve type(contrl)
from the tool option window
Click the brush icon and select a brush type from the list
Drag scale slider to set the size of the selected brush
Drag the mouse pointer over the area of the image
where you want to apply blur
Using sharpen tool
Select the sharpen tool from the toolbox
Select the sharpen radio b button
Click the brush icon
Select brush type from the list
Drag the scale slider to set the size of the selected
brush
Drag the mouse pointer over the area where you want
to sharpen the image part
Using smudge tool
Open the image on which you want to use smudge tool
Select smudge tool from the toolbox
Select a brush type from the brush icon
Drag scale slider to set the size of the selected brush
Select the fade out check box to apply the fadding
effect
Drag the mouse pointer over the area of the image that
you want to apply smudge
Using clone tool
Open the image on which you want to use clone tool
Select clone tool from the toolbox
Select a radio button under source option from the
tool option windows. eg.image radio button
Select an alignment option from the alignment list box
Move the mouse pointer to the area of the image from
where pixels are to be cloned
Press contrl key and click
Using burn tool
 Open an image
 Select burn tool from the toolbox
 Select dodge radio button under the type(cntl) option from the tool options
 Select a range of pixels option under range in the tool options window to
apply the effect to the lightest pixels, darkest pixels or average tone of
pixels
 Click the arrow present at the lower right corner of the brush icon
 Select brush type
 Drag scale slider to set the size of the selected brush
 Drag the mouse pointer over the area of the image that you want to apply dodge
effect
Transforming image
Alignment tool: arranges the images layers that contain
various objects in images
Move tool: moves a layer ,selection or path of an image
Crop tool
Rotate tool
Scale tool :increases or decreases size of image
Shear tool: distorts an image .allows you to shift one
part of an image in particular selection
Perspective tool: helps to distorts the image. modify the
picture
Flip tool
