Social Media

By Oliver Ingham
Other Podcast Social Media
• Joe Rogan Experience (JRE):
The JRE uses social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and YouTube
mainly. The podcast is also exclusively on Spotify but since that isn’t much
of a social media platform at the moment, I will not include it. JRE does not
have it’s own dedicated Twitter when compared to YouTube and Instagram
in which, it does. On Twitter Joe Rogan uses his own personal Twitter to
promote the podcast but on Instagram and YouTube he has another team
which promotes the podcast and notifies people who are following the
account on when there is going to be anew podcast uploaded. On YouTube
it is a weird due to his contract with Spotify this means he can’t upload full
episodes on YouTube but is allowed to upload clips of the podcast, which is
what he does as a way to reach a larger audience. I will not be doing this as
I will be uploading the full podcast onto YouTube due to me not being held
back by contracts.
Other Podcast Social Media
• Strong Opinion Sports (SOS):
SOS is run by Zac Shomler who is the sole creator and owner of the podcast, he
uploads on mainly on YouTube as that is where he can upload clips as well as the
full podcast for his viewers pleasure. He also uses Instagram to help promote his
podcast and also discuss other topics slightly, he also uses it to give his fans a
behind the scenes view of what it takes to create a podcast, including research and
equipment. I like his approach to showing off his podcast compared to JRE as he
has separate accounts for his more personal stuff compared to his podcast. Which
helps make a barrier between him and his work for his audience, and makes it so
people who are only interested in the podcast don’t have to see irrelevant stuff to
do with his personal life compared to what they have to deal with the JRE. I will
also use YouTube and may have to make a clips playlist on my page as well to keep
up with SOS and JRE as they seem to be popular and work well with the rest of the
content being offered. He also uses soundcloud for a MP3 version of listening.
Platforms I Plan To Use
• SoundCloud: Although most people don’t post on this website anymore and the
community for it has shrunk, I will still post here due to me using MP3 as my main
format for the podcast, I also know that on SoundCloud, there is more of a tight nit
community that can be made here due to how the website works and how most
people communicate on it.
• YouTube: I will use YouTube as it is the biggest media sharing website and I can make a
sound wave around my podcasts logo to make the video visually appealing as I know
that people would not like to just sit and watch a black screen due to me not being
able to use cameras to show the hosts and co- hosts of the podcast.
• Instagram: Instagram is a good tool to get your product out to the world and reach a
large potential audience due to tags, I can copy what SOS does and post small clips
with large text above it to grab peoples attention and potentially bring in more eyes to
the podcast.
• Twitter: I will use twitter for the same reasons I am wanting to use Instagram, to
promote my product via tags and reach a large potential audience. I can also use
Twitter to post clips just like I will on Instagram to also grab peoples attention.
My Social Media Platforms
• SoundCloud: I have made my SoundCloud
platform to upload my podcast, this has been
done successfully. I am happy with the quality
of the podcast on here as well as a part of me
was scared that it would, for some reason,
lower the quality of my audio but luckily this
did not happen.
My Social Media Platforms
• YouTube: I've used YouTube as a way to upload
a more visually stimulating version since I
know that some people don't like only audio
versions and want something to look at. This is
also good as YouTube is the biggest video
sharing platform in the world.
My Social Media Platforms
• Instagram: For some reason with Instagram,
when I made the account, it said it was
disabled due to suspicious activity. This is
weird as I haven't made an account with the
email I used for the podcast before and only
just made the account, this rules out the
chance of using Instagram to help promote my
podcast.
My Social Media Platforms
• Twitter: Twitter is the main platform of social
media to help promote things, such as a
freelance artist or company. I use Twitter to
promote my podcast as I know that with the
use of hastags, it will able to reach a larger
audience.
