The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
Established : 8th June 1993
Act: the Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993.
Renamed:Through an amendment of the SEC Act, 1993, on December
10, 2012, its name has been changed as BSEC
Commission Is : a statutory body and attached to the MOF.
The Chairman and four Commissioners are appointed by the government
and have overall responsibility to administer securities legislation.
Members perform the following functions:
Serve as the members of the Commission and supervise its management.
Provide policy direction to industry and staff and promulgate legally
binding rules.
Act as an administrative tribunal for decisions on the capital market.
