CARBON FOOTPRINT

INTRODUCTION

• A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact your activities have on the amount of carbon
dioxide ( CO2 )
• A carbon footprint is the whole amount of greenhouse gases (GHG)
• The GHGs that result in a carbon footprint can come from the production and consumption of
food, manufactured goods, fossil fuels, transportation, roads, and also materials.
• To calculate the carbon footprint, a lot of factors need to be considered

• Different foods produce different amounts of GHG emissions
• The process of processing, transport, retail and packaging only account for less share of GHG
emissions.
• Plant-based foods have lower carbon footprint compared to animal-based foods.
HOW TO REDUCE CARBON FOOTPRINT

• Plant trees
• Individuals also can reduce carbon footprints by changing lifestyle, purchasing habits and
improving energy efficiency.
• Switching lifestyle
• Use public transportation
• Carpooling
