Language, especially their


popularity, are largely affected by
political and geographic factors.
Because of this dependency,
English has become the most
widespread language in the world. Business English is a part of English for specific
purposes and can be considered a specialism
within English language learning and teaching, or
a variant of international English. English
communication that takes place within business
circles all over the world occurs between non-
native speakers. In cases such as these, the object
of the exercise is efficient and effective
communication. The strict rules of grammar are in
such cases sometimes ignored, when, for Business
English means different things to different people.
Business Etiquette in Classrooms

Business etiquette is a set of rules The Business Etiquette in classrooms:

interaction in a civilized manner.  Can use the classroom like a business

 Getting and Giving Information

a. If you are require some information you can say:


- Could you say a little more about
Eg: Could you say a little more about your business plan?
- I’d like some information about
Eg: I’d like some information about the products of your company

b. When someone gives some information, you can reply:


- That’s interesting
- Thanks for letting me know

If someone hasn’t given you enough information, you can say:


- Could you tell me some more about?
Eg: could you tell me some more about business etiquette?
- I’d like some more information about your own business

c. if someone asks you information, we can reply:


- I don’t have that information available just now. Can I call you back?
- I’ve no idea. I’m afraid

d. If you want to give someone some information, you can say:


- I think you should know that
Eg: I think you should know that my client join on our company
- Did you know that?
Eg: Did you know that your client is my client too
 Agreeing and Disagreeing
a. if you want to agree with someone, you can say:
- That’s just what I was thinking
- Quite right, I couldn’t agree more
b. If you want to disagree, you can say:
- I am not sure, I altogether agree with you
- I can see what you mean, but it is important thing

 Giving counterarguments, refusals


- We can't bear any responsibility for
eg: We can't bear any responsibility for item damage
- Sorry we can't meet your request
 Expressing An Opinion
• In my opinion about the hotel project that we are
building is really investing heavily in the future
• I'm not really sure what you think about the problem
project we created
 Interrupting
• Excuse me but Tom is on the phone.
• Um wait a minute I'll call back and I'll give clear
information after the meeting is over
 Expressing Lack Of Understanding
• I am not really sure I understand about the opinion
that you just said in the meeting earlier
• I don’t think I really understand about this on going
project

• Can be more specific in the delivery of the
information that was just announced
• What exactly do you mean by the director's
presentation at yesterday meeting 
 Expressing Uncertainty, Doubt, Hesitation

• It gives cause for concern to the business project we
are currently working on
 Restating Summarizing
• To make a long story short, we conclude that the
business we live in must be serious and passionate
about offering its products so that it can grow rapidly.
• So you mean we have to improve the performance of
our work
Conclusion

So, the conclusion is that when studying business


English in the classroom we can apply business
etiquettes. There are many expressions which can
be used to ethically communicate in a business
language class. Start from expressions when we
are giving information, getting information,
giving opinions, and so on. We can apply the
expressions above to use when we communicate
in class. By applying it we have applied the
etiquette or good communication methods in the
business language classroom like a business.
