Reliability Test
Descriptive Statistics Using Jamovi
Test of Normality
AGENDA Test of Correlation
Chi-Square
T-Test
ANOVA
Reliability in scientific investigation usually means
the stability and repeatability of measures, or the
ability of a test to produce the same results under
the same conditions.
For a test to be reliable it must first be valid.
Reliability Test Cronbach's alpha is the most common measure of
internal consistency ("reliability"). It is most
commonly used when you have multiple Likert
questions in a survey/questionnaire that form a
scale and you wish to determine if the scale is
reliable.
Reliability Test
Reliability Test
The analysis, summary, and presentation of
findings related to a data set derived from a
sample or entire population. Descriptive
statistics comprises three main categories
Descriptive Frequency Distribution
Statistics Measures of Central Tendency
(Mean, Median, mode)
Measures of Variability
(Range, Interquartile Range, Variance, and
Standard Deviation)
Assumption of normality means that you should
make sure your data roughly fits a bell
curve shape before running certain statistical
tests or regression.
Test of
Normality
Shapiro-Wilk Test This test will tell you if a
random sample came from a normal
distribution. The test gives you a W value; small
values indicate your sample is not normally
Test of distributed.
Normality
If p-value < .05, then the distribution is
not normal
data: math_high
SW = 0.977, p-value = 0.002
Interpretation:
The Shapiro-Wilk normality test revealed that
Test of the distribution of math high school scores is
not normal (SW = .977, P = .002)
Normality
Try the test of normality with other scores
Which scores are normal?
Describes the degree of relationship between
two variables
Test of
Correlation
An advantage of the Spearman rank
correlation coefficient is that the X and Y
values can be continuous or ordinal, and
approximate normal distributions for X and Y
are not required
Strength of correlation
.00-.19 “very weak”
.20-.39 “weak”
.40-.59 “moderate”
.60-.79 “strong”
Test of .80-1.0 “very strong”
T-Test
Used when categorical variable has more than two responses
(unlike t-test where it has to be dichotomous)
Used when variables are more than 2 (unlike t-test which is only
limited to 2)
If p<0.05 - SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE, if p>0.05 - NOT
SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE
If p value is significant, then run a Tukey’s Test to know where
the difference exists
ANOVA
Sample interpretation:
Analysis of variance showed that the effect of socio-
economic status on math grades was significant,
F(2,197)=7.97, p<.001.
Post hoc comparisons using the Tukey contrast
indicated that the mean score for high (M = 56.17, SD
ANOVA = 8.69) is significantly higher than low (M = 49.17, SD
= 8.87);
the mean score for high (M = 56.17, SD = 8.69), is
also significantly higher than the mean score for
middle (M =52.21, SD = 9.36);
The mean score for low (M = 49.17, SD = 8.87). is not
significantly lower than middle (M =52.21, SD = 9.36).
There are many different types of regression. The type of
regression that is used depends on the type of
dependent variable e.g. linear regression is used with a
continuous dependent variable, logistic regression with a
binary dependent variable and Poisson regression with a
Regression Poisson counts dependent variable.
