ADDS SIMPLE FRACTIONS AND MIXED MATH

MBERS WITH OR WITHOUT REGROUPING 6

M6NS-Ia-86

Zenon Roderick U. Yabis

Teacher III
San Leon Primary School
This video is designed for Grade 6 pupils to learn how to add simple
fractions and mixed numbers with or without regrouping (M6NS-Ia-
86).

Problem-based situations that reinforce the learning process are

presented to make the learners appreciate the importance of
Mathematics to their everyday lives and make them to think critically
and help them become problem-solvers.

It is hoped that with this video, learners will find learning

Mathematics lessons not only challenging but also enjoyable.
Objectives:
COGNITIVE: Add simple fractions and mixed
numbers with or without regrouping.

PSYCHOMOTOR: Illustrate the number sentence

using models.

AFFECTIVE: Demonstrate love and concern for

others.

Continuous Division in Finding LCD

Example: + = N
6 9
The common divisor of 9 and 6 3 9 6
Then divide, 9 ÷ 3 and 6 ÷ 3 3 2

Since there is no more common divisor for 3 and 2, let us multiply the number on the left and the number at
the bottom.
3 x 3 x 2 = 18 LCD of 9 and 6
1 3
6 18 First, divide the LCD with the original denominator. Then,
multiply the quotient with the original numerator. The
+ 4 8 product will be your new numerator.

Remember:
11 Always reduce your answer to lowest term if
This is your final answer possible and change to mixed number if your
18
answer is an improper fraction.
