What moves us to take action in life? The search for love? Happiness? Justice? Freedom? Equality? The wellbeing of
our beloved ones? Greed? Reputation? Fame? Other people’s opinion about us?...
Different people set themselves different goals in life. We may agree with them or not, but we all make part of
society and have to live together in this world that we share. If we were to analyze why we take one way or another we
would have to take many aspects into account: family background, education, the country where we are born, the type of
community in which we have been brought up…. All these ingredients help us shape our personality.
I feel that, as teachers, our responsibility is very important. We have to help young people choose right and the
message I try to convey is that it is worth striving for justice and freedom rather than for hoarding riches or being television
famous.
Out of the millions and millions of people living in the world, most of us are just ordinary people and have simple,
common lives. But some of our fellow citizens are extraordinary people who excel in an area of knowledge: they are natural
or social scientists, artists of all kinds, thinkers, philosophers, statesmen… We look up to these intellectuals when they
commit themselves to worthy causes. We admire them and set them as examples to follow.
In the spirit of the International Year of Global Understanding I proposed my 2nd. Basic level students to find their
own inspiring quote by a historical of any time to put up a poster. The idea is that they can serve as inspiration to guide our
personal decisions towards a globally better world. It is a way to start at the bottom, contributing with the little things we
can all do as individuals.

This is my quote:
“There are men who fight one day and are
good. There are men who fight one year and are
better.
There are some who fight many years and
they are better still.
But there are some that fight their whole
lives,
these are the ones that are indispensable.

playwright and theatre director

happy"
Dalai Lama (1935)

From the Mongolic word dalai (ocean) and the Tibetan

happy.
