ACTIVITY 1 : Give the right expression

1. Ask patient whether the patient has taken any self-medication.


2. Ask patient how many he/she has taken for self-medication.
3. Ask patient if he/she gets better or worse after medication.
4. Ask patient about the pain location.
5. Ask the patient to describe the cause of the pain.
6. Ask the patient how does the pain feel.
7. Ask the patient about the intensity of the pain.
8. Ask the patient about the frequency of the pain.

CASE 1
You are a patient diagnosed with gastritis and gastric erosion
Aggravating factors:
Heavy drinking, smoking and simply eating too much, eating
something that is either to spicy or to acidic.
Symptoms:
Vomit, bloody vomit, upset stomach, nausea, loose bowel
movement
Medication: Antacid (Mylanta)
CASE 2
You are a patient suspected with kidney stones
Symptoms:

Colic ( a stabbing pain that comes in waves, often a


few minutes a part). Lower back pain in one side, just
below the ribs. Feel nauseated. Dribbled waterworks.
Self-Medication: Not yet taken
CASE 3
You are the man comes to hospital with fever. You are
suspected with prostatitis
Symptoms:

Painful waterworks, having a dull heavy ache in crotch


(around the base of penis), fever with temperature 37.5’C
Self-Medication: antibiotic, antipyretic
