• Yesterday we learned about growth mindset. Hands up if

you can tell me what growth mindset means?
• Why is it important to have a growth mindset?

• Right! Growth mindset means that we believe we can learn

anything with practice!
• It is important to have a growth mindset so that our minds
are open to learning.

• Which one do you think is writing?

• They are actually all writing, just
at different stages.
• We are all different as learners.
• Some of us will learn to write at the bottom stage by the
end of kindergarten. Some of us may not.
• The most important thing is to recognize what stage you
are at and think about what you could do to get to the next
stage. 8

• 1 is the first stage you have ideas, and

you write them down, but they look like
squiggles.
• 2 is the second stage. You are starting
to make lines and shapes that look like
letters.
• 3 is the third stage. You are starting to write letters.

• 4 is the fourth stage. You are starting to

hear and write beginning and/or ending
sounds and you are following some
writing rules like finger spaces between
each word.
• 5 is the fifth stage.
• You are using a capital at the beginning of your sentence, finger spaces
between each word, spelling sight words, sounding words out and
putting a period at the end of your sentence.
