 Fractional Equations
• 
Example 9 (0.7):

• When the variable is in the denominator, always bring it in the

numerator.
• How do you do that?
• Cross-multiply.
• To cross-multiply, you need single fractions on either side of
the equal to sign.

Example 10 (0.7):

• When there is a quadratic denominator, always factorize it

first.

 Radical Equations
• 

• When there is a radical sign, you can only remove it by

squaring both sides of the equation.
• Isolating it on one side of the equal to sign will make solving
easier.

• Check your answers by substitution.

 Radical Equations
• 

• When there are two radical signs, it is easier to solve if you

bring them on either side of the equation.
• Isolating the radical sign with the longer expression makes is
shorter to solve.
• Check your answers by substitution.
Quadratic-Form Equations

•  Sometimes an equation is not a quadratic equation but it can be

transformed into a quadratic equation by a suitable substitution.
