2. It is the one who receives the message. 3. It is made up of ideas, information and feelings. 4. it is a signal interference. 5. It is the medium or means of communication. 1. It is the response of the receiver. 2. It is a noise that comes form the Physical environment. 3. It refers to the surrounding/environment that helps shape the interaction between and/or among individuals. 4. It is express through words. 5. It is the noise confined within the psychological and sociological nature of individuals when thoughts and feelings are engrossed on something other than the communication at hand. MODELS OF COMMUNICATION SCHRAMM’S MODEL Wilbur Schramm is considered as the father of the study of communication. Schramm effectively modified the SMCR theory. Schramm’s contribution to communication theory included the concept of field experience. WHAT IS SMCR THEORY? S = SENDER M = MESSAGE C = CHANNEL R = RECEIVER LASSWELL’S MODEL Harold Lasswell authored the Propaganda Techniques in the World War . He identified five common variables in the communication process. 1. control analysis = pertains to the study of factors that initiate and guide the act of communication. 2. content analysis = pertains to the study of message 3. channel data analysis = covers the study how information travels. 4. audience analysis = pertains to the research on the followers of media 5. effect analysis =the study of impact of the information on audiences SHANNON-WEAVER MODEL Claude Shannon is an American mathematician and electronic engineer. Warren Weaver is an American Scientist. This model is known as the mother of all communication models. This model introduces the concept of noise It depicts the communication as linear or one way process consisting of five elements: 1. source = producer of the message 2. transmitter = encoder of message into signals 3. channel = signals adapted for transmission 4. receiver = decoder of the message 5. destination = final path of the message GROUP ACTIVITY: Use the Venn diagram in making comparisons on the features of the communication models discussed.
