Other examples of sentences that contain dynamic and


stative uses of verbs:

• I am seeing more and more people studying

• More companies are investing in our region, but it


isn’t having much of an impact, in my opinion.

• It looks as if the car factory is here to stay. = It is


looking as if the car factory is here to stay.

Stative verbs (simple verb form) usually refer to fixed


states or facts or perception (e.g. be, have, think and
see).

These verbs are mostly used in the stative form.


Sometimes they are used dynamically (in the continuous
verb form), which can change their meaning.
I have a headache. I am having a nightmare.
