Virtual Job

Shadow Project
by Evan Allen
What Careers Did I Choose?
● Clinical and Counseling Therapists - I have always been interested in
psychology and therapy. Despite knowing a bit about it, I wanted to know
more about what happens behind the scenes.
● Political Scientist - I have always had an interest in diplomacy and
international affairs. I think caring about politics and relations between
nations is incredibly important.
● Clothing Designer - I wanted to shadow a career that explored my more
creative and artistic side. I think menswear has became rather bland and
could use more uniqueness.
Clinical and Counseling Psychologists
● These types of psychologists help people with personal problems,
diagnose and treat mental illness
● School psychologists, alongside needing a PhD or a PsyD, require an
educational specialists degree to work in a school environment.
● The majority of psychologists make a median of $78, 200 a year
● How many years does it take to become a psychologist?
● I think the next step would be interviewing someone in the field of clinical
psychology.
Political Scientists
● Political scientists research public policy, data, write reports, and test
theories concerning institutions, organizations, and the federal
government.
● Political scientists make around $120, 260 dollars annually.
● Majority of political scientists have a PhD or a Masters in order to be
competitive
● They tend to be more investigative and artistic
● How long does it take to become a political scientist?
● Working with an NGO or IGO to find a type of organization to shadow.
Clothing Designers
● Designers work with brands and retailers to create designs, tailor clothes,
work on lines, and research types of fabrics. They can either be self
employed or work for a company.
● They make an average $73,790 annually.
● Having an associates degree is at least required for this type of career.
● What is a starting salary in this industry?
● Working with a brand or an educational program could tell me more
about this type of career.
How Do These Careers Fit?
● Psychologists - This career requires a pretty expensive education and
academic career, but has overall financial stability over a longer period of
time.
● Political Scientist - This career pays extremely well, but has a very small
job market. It is growing, but the majority don’t get into those
governmental positions.
● Clothing Designer - This market has a potential for financial growth and
requires less schooling, but does not have high starting salary.
