What is Hardware
The components of computer that can be seen and touched is
called computer hardware
Components of computer
hardware
 Motherbord
 Central processing unit
 A graphic processing unit
 Random access memory
 Storage solid state drive

BASIC INPUT OUTPUT UNIT
Keyboard.
Mouse.
Microphone.
Bar code reader.
Graphics tablet.
Keyboard.
Mouse.
Joy Stick.
Light pen.
Track Ball.
Scanner.
Graphic Tablet.
Microphone
Motherboard
 USB (Universal serial bus)
 Parallel port
 CPU Chip
 RAM slots
 Floppy controller
 IDE controller
 PCI slot
Ram
 Ram stands for Random Access Memory
 Short data lifetime.
 Needs to be refreshed continuously.
 Slower as compared to SRAM.
 Used as RAM.
 Smaller in size.
 Less expensive.
 Less power consumption.
Rom
 Rom stands for Read Only memory
 A ROM chip is used mainly in every computer
 Non volatile
 SRAM
 SRAM offers a simple data access model and does not require a
refresh

 DRAM
 It provides higher density levels.
 More data can be stored using DRAM.
 Memory can be refreshed and deleted while a program is running.
Cache Memory
 Cache memory is faster than main memory.
 It consumes less access time as compared
to main memory.
 It stores the program that can be executed
within a short period of time.
 It stores data for temporary use.
 A register is a temporary storage area built into a CPU
 Data register DR Holds memory operand
 Address register AR Holds address for the memory
 Accumulator AC Processor register
 Instruction register IR Holds instruction cod

Registors and its types

Importance of cpu
O CPU, provides the instructions and processing
power the computer needs to do its work.
O CPU is also known as brain of computer
O Computer Can not run without Cpu
