contamination of the environment with materials that interfere with human health, quality of life or the natural functions of ecosystems. Air pollution causes 8.8 MILLION premature deaths each year. Air pollution is harmful to human health and the environment. In Europe, emissions of many air pollutants have fallen substantially in recent decades, leading to improved air quality in the region. However, concentrations of air pollutants continue to be very high and air quality problems persist. In 2010, several countries exceeded one or more emission limits for four major air pollutants. Reducing air pollution therefore remains important. Air pollution is a local, pan-European and hemisphere problem. Air pollutants emitted in one country can be transported into the atmosphere, contributing to or leading to low air quality in other areas. Cleaner air brings benefits to human health and climate change. Be better and don't let others pollute our air!
