MODULAR LEARNING DURING
PANDEMIC: BASIS FOR
INTERVENTION PLAN
Implementation of Modular Distance
Learning
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students and teachers have
not been able to participate in face –to-face learning inside the
school. As a result of the pandemic, Modular Distance Learning
has been implemented as an immediate response to ensure
educational continuity.
General Objective:
The study will help the researcher to design an intervention
plan that will help the teachers to determine the needed
strategies for the better implementation of modular distance
learning.
THEORETICAL / CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
This research is anchored on the sociological imagination theory by
Mills (1959). According to him, public issues, whose source lies in the
social structure and culture of a society, refer to social problems affecting
many individuals. Mills felt that many problems ordinarily considered
private troubles are best understood as public issues, and he coined the
term sociological imagination. In this study, the public issue that the
researcher will study is the concerns regarding the implementation of
teaching using modular distance learning.
RESEARCH PARADIGM:
The descriptive correlational research will be used in this study.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. What is the profile of the teacher respondents in terms of:

1.1. age;
1.2. sex;
1.3. civil status;
1.4. monthly income;
1.5 highest educational attainment;
1.6. years of teaching experience; and
1.7. workload?
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

2. How may the problems encountered by the teachers in the


implementation of the modular distance learning be described in
terms of:

2.1. printing and production of modules;


2.2. delivery of modules; and
2.3. validity and reliability of the answers in modules?
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

3. Is there a significant relationship between the profile of the teacher


respondents and their problems encountered in the implementation of
the modular distance learning?

4. What intervention plan may be proposed as an output of the study?


RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS

There is no significant relationship between the profile of the


respondents and their problems encountered in the implementation of
the modular distance learning.
SIGNIFANCE OF THE STUDY

Learners – This study will inculcate to the students the importance and value of learning through
self learning modules.
Teachers – The study will provide the teachers techniques and strategies that can make efficient
and productive in teaching modular distance learning.
Administrator– The result of the study may be used as basis in the Annual Improvement Plan of
the school during the implementation of modular distance learning.
Policy Makers- The findings could serve as the basis to upgrade and promote their policies and
stabilize the implementation of the current programs regarding modular distance learning.
Future Researcher- The result of the study could serve as reference or springboard in conducting
similar researches for as long as there is relevance, significance, and connection to their research
studies.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The respondents of this study will be the 34 Junior


High School teachers and 16 Senior High School
Teachers of Recuerdo National High School in
Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija
Total enumeration sampling will be employed by the
researcher in getting the respondents of this study.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
COVID-19. This is the virus that was the cause why the Department of Education to venture on the
different learning modalities such as modular distance learning, online learning and blended.
Intervention Plan. This refers to the proposed plan that may guide the teachers in implementing the
modular distance learning properly.
Modular Distance Learning. Learning is in the form of individualized instruction that allows learners to
use self-learning modules (SLMs) in print or digital format/electronic copy, whichever is applicable in the
context of the learner and other learning resources like Learner’s Materials, textbooks, activity sheets, study
guides and other study materials. In this study, this refers to the learning delivery modalities that the teacher
respondents in teaching their students during the covid-19 pandemic.
Problems Encountered. These are the issues and concerns encountered by the teacher respondents in the
implementation of the modular distance learning.
Teacher Respondents. In this study, teacher respondents are the participants of this study who are currently
teaching at Recuerdo High School, Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija.
METHODOLOGY
Descriptive correlational research design will be used by the
researcher in this study. A systematic analysis of the nature of
relationships, or correlations between and among variables, is
described by Quaranta (2017) as a descriptive correlational research
design. The majority of correlational designs are cross-sectional. In this
study, the researcher will investigate the significant relationship
between the profile of the teacher respondents and their problems
encountered in the implementation of the modular distance learning.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
The researcher will prepare a letter- request address to the Schools
Division Superintendent. Upon approval of the letter, the researcher
will forward it to the Principal of Recuerdo National High School to
secure approval for data gathering.
A letter to the respondents will be secured as well. Before the actual
data gathering, the researcher will communicate with the respondents
to discuss and explain the purpose of the study and ask for their full
cooperation in answering every question. Questionnaires will be then
given to the respondents for data gathering.
DATA ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE
The following statistical tools will be utilized in this study:
For statement of the problem number 1, frequency and percentage
will be used by the researcher;
For statement of the problem number 2, weighted means with verbal
interpretations will be employed; and
For statement of the problem number 3, correlational formulas will
be performed to interpret the data.
All computations will be done using Statistical Package for Social
Sciences.
