who presents the news, interviews guests and guides the viewers between segments.
A News Reader must have
strong verbal-communication skills, as well as the ability to remain non-biased when presenting, to avoid their personal opinion influencing the audiences. z Field Reporter
Field Reporters are also news presenters,
although they do not remain in the studio but rather inform viewers of news from on the frontline.
They have a difficult job as they usually
have to work on the fly when they get rushed to a location where a breaking story is emerging.
Unlike Presenters, they do not have
an Auto Cue and must improvise their lines as they speak live on air. z Links to Studio
Sometimes a News Station may link to
another studio while discussing a topic.
This is done to show another point of
view of a topic and will also usually bring more relevant information to the show.
An example of two news stations that
would do this are the BBC and ITV, two of the biggest news corporations in the world. z Interviews
Interviews are important in the news
industry as they can gain valuable information from certain people that have an awareness or a form of inside knowledge on a topic of discussion.
A popular type of interview is Vox Pop.
This is where an interviewer will ask random members of the publics opinions on an issue or topic, and put them all together for broadcast to show the viewer a fair representation of the public opinion z Actual Footage
Actual Footage is video footage of a
notable event or breaking news story that has occurred.
This type of footage is usually found on
social media and freely used by News Stations but can sometimes be footage sold by the press or footage released publicly by Law Enforcement.
