4. They have same price prevailing for wholesale at dealers/stockiest retailers end

5. Low emphasis on promotion
6. Lack of awareness programs for consumers
Oppurtunity :-
1. Intensive use of cement is taking place & Govt is spending heavily on
infrastructure project
2. FDI in infrastructure sector is going to increase
3. Roads undergoing through transformation process

5. India’s exponential growth in international cement companies can start price
war
6. Players such as Jaypee Cement, Prism Cement & Birla Samrat are eating up

Mordenisation/Expansion projects

• Capacity expansion at Bargarh plant increase to 2.3 mtpa together

power plants of 25 MW each

• Setting up of 2 separate new grinding plants in Bellary and Kolar in


Karnataka
Acquisition & Divestment

• Acquired 40% in Alcon cement company Pvt. ltd having


grinding facility at Surla, Goa

• Acquired from IDBI Bank LTD 12.41% Equity Shares of Bulk


Cement Corp. ltd. Increasing its shareholding to 94.65%

• Sold its wholly owned subsidiary ,ACC Machinery Company


Ltd. For Rs45 crores.
RESEARCH &DEVELOPMENT
• Improving quality of blended cement through
innovative processing, utilising industrial by-
products.
• Conservation of resources through use of low-
grade limestone for cement manufacture.
• Quality Benchmarking exercise for different
market clusters of ACC products.
• Recycling of wastes and research for efficient use
of scarce materials.
Mergers
• In 2006 :
Subsidiary Companies Damodhar Cement & Slag Ltd, Bargarh
cement Ltd and Tarmac(India) Ltd merged with ACC

• ACC merged with Gujrat Ambuja Cement Ltd.
