    MINI- ZEN
    GARDEN
    What is a Zen
    Garden
    • Karesansui is the Japanese name of Zen garden,
    which translates to dry mountain and water
    garden.
    • Zen garden is a meditative place free of
    distractions (Saliva, 2021)
    • Zen gardens were created for Buddhist monks to
    meditate and absorb the teaching of Buddha
    (Saliva 2021)
    Supplies Needed
    • Shallow, decorative bowl
    • Small succulent
    • Sand (2 colours)
    • Paper clip
    • Small rocks (for decoration)
    • Chopstick, toothpick or other drawing tool
    Assembling a Mini-Zen Garden
    • Step one- You want to choose a succulent that will not grow quickly such as Haworthia, Gastaloes,
    Crassula or cactus.
    • Step two transfer your succulent to a small paper cup
    • Step three add succulent to a decorative bowl
    • Step four add sand to the bottom bowl nestle the succulent in place
    • Step five then fill the bowl with sand
    • Step six choose the second colour to go around the succulent
    • Step seven add a few rocks for decoration around your succulent
