ASSESSMENT FRAMEWORK PILOT STUDY
Pilot Study Objectives
To establish the practical applicability of the Assessment
Framework to the Zimbabwean school with respect to school
type and geographical setup
To gather the competencies, strengths and weaknesses of
teachers in the development of continuous assessment
instruments, marking, moderation and record keeping
To determine time appropriate for CALA implementation in
schools for different learning levels
To determine factors that influence the implementation of CALA
in schools
PILOT STUDY OBJECTIVES?
• To come up with a model for effective and efficient CALA
development and implementation in schools
• To come up with CA monitoring and support strategies for
effective CA implementation in schools
• To gather the views of learners, parents, school
administrators and teachers with respect to CALA
implementation in particular and other aspects of CA in
general
• To tie up loose ends of the Assessment Framework and
have a road map that will guide the massive role out of CA
implementation in Zimbabwe

areas.
SUB-OBJECTIVES
The workshop intends to achieve the following objectives among others:
To enable participants to:
Understand issues and aspects of the Competence Based
Curriculum
Gain insights into the provisions and key attributes of the draft
Assessment Framework
Utilise the syllabus in the development of Continuous Assessment
Learning Activities (CALA).
Acquire the requisite knowledge and skills in the development of
continuous assessment instruments
Design valid, reliable and authentic continuous assessment
instruments
Have exposure to quality control and quality assurance mechanisms
in continuous assessment.
