Statue of unity

– Today Statue of Unity is known as the tallest statue


(182m) 597ft in the world.
– Statue of Unity is situated near a small town called
Kevadiya in Gujarat, India.
– It is a colossal statue of former Indian 1st Deputy
Prime minister “Sardar Vallabhai Patel” who was
called as Iron man of India.
– It was inaugurated by the Indian prime minister
Narendra modi on 31st October 2018.
Significance
of Statue of
Unity
– It was designed by artist &
Sculptor Ram V. Sutar
– Project took 57 months to
complete which was
started in 2013 and ended
in 2018.
– Total cost INR(2989 Crores)
of the Project, design,
Construction &
Maintenance was done by
Indian Company Larsen &
Toubro.
Present Condition

– This monument attracts close to 15,000 visitors daily


– The monument is constructed on a river island named
Sadhu Bet, 3.2 km away from and facing the Narmada dam
downstream
– It has been included in the ‘8 Wonders of SCO(Shanghai
Cooperation Organization)’ list.
