1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that
the word of the Lord may run swiftly
and be glorified, just as it is with you

establish you and guard you from the

will do the things we command you.

into the love of God and into the
patience of Christ.

Introduction
In today’s message from 2
Thessalonians 3:1-5, Paul
requested a prayer and
also offered a prayer for
the Thessalonians;
The church of Thessalonica
had made prayer a
cornerstone of its life
together.
1. Prayer for the
Gospel
Finally, brethren, pray for
us, that the word of the
Lord may run swiftly and
be glorified, just as it is
with you.
 In this 1st request Paul
asks for two things.

1.For the Advancement of

the Gospel
2.For the Acceptance of
the Gospel.
2. Prayer for the
Messengers of the Gospel
 2 and that we may be
delivered from
unreasonable and wicked
men; for not all have faith.
3 But the Lord is faithful,
who will establish you and
guard you from the evil
one.
 Paul’s 2nd request for
prayer is for protection.
This is for himself and his
fellow missionaries,
1. Protection from evil
faithless forces.
2. Protection by good
faithful God
3. Prayer for Believers
to live the Gospel
4 And we have confidence
in the Lord concerning
you, both that you do and
will do the things we
command you.
5 Now may the Lord direct
your hearts into the love
of God and into the
 Having requested the
Thessalonians to pray for
him Paul now offers a
prayer for them.
 1. He expresses his
confidence in God’s
enabling (empowering).
2. He desires that their
commitment will be to be
Godly.
CONCLUSION
1. Prayer for the
Advancement and
Acceptance of the Gospel.
2. Prayer for Protection of
Messengers of the Gospel
from evil faithless forces.
3. Prayer for Believers to
live the Gospel
