Abstract

 The purpose of this device is to help the parents to locate their children with ease.

 To make communication medium between child’s wearable and the parent easy , GSM mobile
communication is used.
 Parent can send a text with keywords such as “LOCATION” , “TEMPERATURE”, “SOS”,BUZZ” to
wearable device.
 The wearable device will reply back with a text containing the real time accurate of the child
which upon tapping will provide directions to child’s location on Google maps app and will also
provide the surrounding temperature , UV radiation index so the parents can keep a track if
TEMPARATURE or UV radiation is not suitable for a child.

 The secondary measure performed by using a bright SOS Light and alarm buzzer present on
wearable device which activated by the parents via SMS text should display the SOS signal
brightly and sound an alarm.
INTRODUCTION

 The internet of things refers to the set of devices and systems that interconnected with real world
sensors.
 The motivation for this wearable comes from the increasing need of safety for children in current
times as there could be scenarios of child getting lost in major crowded areas.

 The project focuses on the key aspect of; the lost of child can be helped by the people around the

child can play a significant role in the child’s safety until reunited with parents.

 The platform of this project will be running on Arduino Uno microcontroller board based on
ATmega328P , and receiving SMS calls and connecting to the internet which is provided by
the Arduino GSM shield. Also, additional modules employed which will provide the current location
of the child to parent via SMS.
EXISTING SYSTEM

 At moment there are many wearables available in the market which will help to track the
daily activity of children and also help to find the child using wi-fi and Bluetooth services present
on the device.

 But wi-fi (wireless fidelity) and Bluetooth appear to be an unreliable between the parent and child.
PROPOSED SYSTEM

 The focus of this project is to have an SMS text enabled communication medium between the child

wearable and the parent as the environment for GSM Mobile communication.

 In this the parent can send a text as SMS with specific keywords such as “LOCATION” , “TEMPERATURE”

“SOS” , “BUZZ” to the wearable device.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

GSM
MODULE
 GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communication .

 GSM is a standard developed by the ETSI to describe protocols for second generation digital

cellular network used by phones.

 GSM modem can accept any GSM network operator SIM card and just like a mobile phone

with its unique number.

SOS LIGHT

 SOS stands for survival signal light.

 SOS is known for the sign for help.

 It is used to simplify and standardize communications.

 The purpose of this light to alert the people nearby that the child might be in distress since
the light will be flashing.
GPS LOCATION SENSOR

 The location sensor object is used to communicate with the global positioning satellite receiver

in phone.

 When the location sensor communicates with the built in GPS receiver , it can determine the
location of your device.
TEMPERATURE SENSOR

 In order to measure the TEMPARATURE of the surroundings of child ,a temperature sensor is used.

 This gives an output proportional to TEMPERATURE.

 GSM module upon receiving the proper SMS keyword “TEMPERATURE” by the user’s smart
phone , so that wearable device will reply back the surrounding TEMPERATURE of the child.
UV SENSOR

 In order to measure the ultraviolet radiation intensity present around the surrounding of the child

UV sensor is used.

 The purpose of a UV sensor in child wearable device be to protect the child from harmful
radiations of sun.
ALARM BUZZER

 The parent can locate their child by sounding a very loud alarm on the wearable.

 To achieve this a buzzer is used which is responsible for emitting a strong tone upon the output

being set high.

 The buzzer module is activated upon sending an SMS text with the keyword “BUZZ” from cell
phone.
WORKING
 Parent sends an SMS using some keywords such as “TEMPERATURE”, “LOCATION”, “SOS”,”BUZZ

to the wearable device.

 This results knowing the location of child

 So the wearable device will reply back with a text containing the real time accurate location of
child which upon tapping will provide directions to the child’s location on google maps and will
also provide the surrounding TEMPERATURE , UV radiation index so the parents can keep track
safety of a child.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
 High cost but once it is implemented the
 Staying Connected
expenses can be reduced.
 Data Accuracy

 Efficiency

 It can be used in any cell phone and

doesn’t necessarily require an expensive
smart phone.
CONCLUSION

 The child safety wearable device is capable of acting as a smart IoT device.

 It provides parents with the real-time , surrounding TEMPERATURE , UV radiation index and
and SOS light along with Distress alarm buzzer for their child’s surroundings and the ability
to locate their child or alert bystanders in acting to rescue or comfort child.

 The smart child safety wearable can be enhanced much more in the future by using

highly compact Arduino modules such as Lilypad Arduino which can be sewed into fabrics.

 Also a more power efficient model will have to be created which will be capable of holding

the battery for longer time.
