● Lossy compression is when data is compressed and where parts of
the data are lost in the process, to reduce the file size.

● Lossless compression is a type of compression which works by

reducing waste space in a piece of data. For example if there is a
data package file “XXXXXYYYYYY” ,it would be reduced to
“5X6Y”, as this has the same meaning but takes up less space.

● There is no actual difference between JPEG and JPG files and the
only difference is that the JPG file format was created at a time when
you could only use a 3 letter word extension for naming file formats.
