when the sentence
applies to them.
E.G. J’ai les yeux
bleus.
Find the treasure

students questions
about the current topic.
If they get a question
right a box disappears
and they gain 1 point,
for every coin they find
they gain 3 points.
Trivial Pursuit
Each colour represents a
topic. Students have to
talk about that topic for a
certain amount of time. If
they manage it they can
colour in one of the
triangles.
Wordle (1)

written work onto the
website below.
Repeated words will
be bigger than others.

vocabulary such
as adjectives to
describe people.
They have to
underline in red,

of the class asks them questions relating to
today’s lesson. If they get a question wrong they
must sit back in their own seat.
Peg Verbs
Buy some wooden pegs and
write the verb conjugations
on them. Students have to
match the correct peg to the
correct section on the card.
MFL All Around You
Quite a different
homework. Could be used
at start of school year. Find
6 French/Spanish items in
your town – food,
instructions, menu,
anything and write about
it.
Take A Number
Put a ribbon in your
room with numbered
pegs on. Students take a
peg if they need help/to
speak to you, instead of
queuing or keeping their
hands up.
Absent
Always do enough
worksheets for the class. If a
student is absent put it in
that class’ folder in a box in
the room. It can be students’
responsibility to check this
box when they come back
next lesson.
Tree of Knowledge
A tree is drawn on a sheet of paper/the board.
Each pupil has a leaf shaped piece of paper. On
it they write as briefly as possible what has
been the most important thing they have learnt
in the lesson – preferably one word. Pupils stick
their leaves on the tree and say what is on the
leaf.

Class Tools
Spider Web

vocabulary you have learnt today. Use a
ball of string/ribbon. Students stand in a
circle and take it in turn to say their
sentence and hold the string, making a
web around the room.

to a primary school student? Discuss with your
partner.
Memory Master
Write a list of words in the target

words. Pupils have to write out
the translations of terms,
remembering as many as they
can, in a specified time.
Soft Ball
A soft ball is thrown from one
pupil to another named pupil
in class. Pupil says one
concept/key word - next one
explains it then chooses
another.

they can only sit down
once you have been
given 3, 5, 7… etc.
things that they have

and shout out something
they have learned during the
lesson, then sit down again
fast. Ask for 3, 5, 7…etc.
fireworks before leaving the
room.
Bang!
Make a ‘bang’ tin with words in. Could be a good
idea if some students finish work early. If the
student can say the word correctly in the other
language they keep the card if not it goes back

back in.
