The term QWL was introduced in the late 1960s as a way of focusing on the effects of employment on health and general well-being and ways to enhance the quality of a person’s on the job experience. QWL is much broader and more diverse than organizational development, in ensuring adequate and fair compensation, safe and healthy working conditions, opportunities for personal growth and development, satisfaction of social needs at work, protection of employee rights, compatibility between work and non-work responsibilities and the social relevance of work-life. INDUSTRY PROFILE Cement is binder, a substance that sets and hardens and can bind other materials together. The word "cement" traces to the Romans, who used the term opuscaementicium to describe masonry resembling modern concrete that was made from crushed rock with burnt lime as binder. The volcanicash and pulverized brick supplements that were added to the burnt lime, to obtain a hydraulic binder, were later referred to as cemented, cementer, cement, and cement. NEED OF THE STUDY Human resources are most important for any organization. It is important to know the quality of work life of the employees in KESORAM cement limited. Improved quality of work life leads to improved performance. Quality of work life affects job involvement, job satisfaction and job performance. There is a need to study quality of work life in the organization.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
To find out the factors that influences the quality of work life in KESORAM cement ltd., To know the measures to improve quality of work life in KESORAM cement.
SCOPE OF THE STUDY The study is based on the major factors that affect the quality of work life viz., pay, employee benefits job security, working conditions, superior and sub- ordinate relationship, and social benefits in KESORAM ltd. The study expresses the opinion of workers on their satisfaction, motivational factors and compensation plans in the organization RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Research methodology is the specific procedures or techniques used to identify, select, process, and analyze information about a topic. There are two types of data Primary Data and Secondary Data → 1. Primary Data → Raw data or primary data is a term for data collected at source. This type of information is obtained directly from first hand sources by means of surveys, observations and experimentation and not subjected to any processing or manipulation and also called primary data. 2. Secondary Data → It refers to the data collected by someone other than the user i.e. the data is already available and analyzed by someone else. Common sources of secondary data include various published or unpublished data, books, magazines, newspaper, trade journals etc., Research Design : Descriptive in nature Data Source : Primary & secondary data Primary data : primary data collected through structure questionnaire Research instrument : Structure Questionnaire Population size : Employees of KESORAM cement Sample Size : 100 Employees from company Sampling procedure : Random sampling Statistical tool : Simple percentage method Sampling unit : HYDERABAD • FINDINGS • Most of the respondents are satisfied towards safety measures. • Most of the respondents are satisfied towards wage policies. • Majority of the respondents are agreed towards increases the wage rates. • Most of the respondents are agreed towards freedom to use your skills in your area of job. • Most of the respondents are agreed towards recognition for good results achieved. • Most of the respondents are not satisfied towards promotional policy in the company. • Majority of the respondents are agreed towards pay salary by considering responsibilities. • Most of the respondents are satisfied towards work timings of the organization. • Most of the respondents are satisfied towards motivation by supervisors. • Majority of the respondents are satisfied towards relation with superior. SUGGESTIONS • The company should try to implement promotional activity, in all the levels. • Job security is the important factor for the development of the organization in view of the employees. So, the company should give the job security to the employees. • The company should provide freedom to the employees in order to provide their comments and suggestions very freely to the management. • Giving rewards to the employees by linking it with job performance makes the company easy to improve the performance level of the employees in a positive way. • The company should take care of the career development of each and every employee. So that the employees feel much positive about the growth in career development in the present company. CONCLUSION Quality of work life is a term that includes many things relating to the work situation. There should be balance between stated objectives and resources provided by the company. This study tells that “QUALITY OF WORK LIFE” for employees is good in KESORAM CEMENT LTD., and the employees are not satisfied with promotional policy, job security; feel free to offer comments and suggestions, rewards to job performance and career development. So, the management needs to concentrate on those areas.
