AN INVESTIGATION INTO

LEARNING LISTENING ENGLISH

AT HOME OF THE SECOND YEAR
STUDENTS OF ENGLISH MAJOR
AT UFLS-UDN

Phan Thi My Hanh

Nguyen Thi Thuy Hien
Introduce
Rationale
 Lindsay and Knight (2006) argued that listening is a skill of acquiring language
rather than making language.
 When a listener participates in a conversation, the listening skill is considered
active because when the listener has the right to pause that conversation to ask
questions for the speaker, but when listening to a radio message or Mass media
utility information, work becomes better.
 There are many reasons that make learners find it difficult to learn to listen, one of
the most common reasons is that listening skills are often not focused in the
process of learning English in junior high school or high school. The second year
students majoring in English at DaNang University of Foreign Studies also have
many difficulties in learning to listen.
 For that reason, this study is carried out with the aim of finding out the difficulties in
learning to listen at home of second year foreign language university students and
the solutions they have used to improve their listening skills.
