Cross-Border E-Commerce in Nepal
As of May 2019, there were 31 private ISPs in Nepal, with about 200,000 subscribers, and nearly
16.67 million internet users nationwide. Roughly 40 percent of these accounts are commercial, with
businesses promoting their products and services and communicating with foreign businesses via the
internet.
Online activity is concentrated in Kathmandu and a half-dozen other cities, with relatively little
internet penetration in rural areas, although this is slowly changing with most users accessing the
internet via mobile phones. Many businesses rely on the internet when dealing with foreign partners.
Even though the peak development of domestic e-commerce business platform, the cross-border e-
commerce that is international ecommerce is not well developed in Nepal due to various problems .
But the cross-border e-commerce is being initiated , developed and facilitated by various shipping
companies and business agencies in these days.
All sorts of cross-border e-commerce is available but limited only for those who has acess for good
internet, international master card / credit card (not available with everyone and even not facilitated
by local banks of Nepal) , cosy and much more time consuming. Cross-border e-commerce like
shopping and business deals/ activities from amazon , flipkart and Alibaba is possible and developing
as well
