ENERGY EFFICIENT SOLAR DC SYSTEM
Supervisor(s):
1. Dr. Pawan Kumar

INTRODUCTION
“Its not how much power you consume , but all matter is how EFFICIENTLY you
consume”.
• As fossil fuel prices rise, as oil insecurity deepens, and as concerns about climate
change cast a shadow over the future of coal, a new energy economy that is
RENEWABLE ENERGY is emerging.
• The future of India and its economic growth plans are critically linked to the fortunes of
the energy sector. India will be the leading global driver of growth in energy
consumption in the next 20 years, possibly surpassing China in the process.
• The total energy consumption is expected to grow by 128% by 2035. India sets 450-
GW capacity renewable energy target for 2030. This can be achieved by solar power
plants but we also have to focus on rooftop solar plants.
Continuous urbanization and the growth of population result in increased power consumption in buildings.
The belief still predominates among stakeholders that energy-efficient buildings are more expensive than
conventional buildings.
Energy conservation and efficiency may be related, but they have distinct definitions in the energy world.
Energy conservation involves using less energy by adjusting your behaviors and habits. Energy efficiency,
on the other hand, involves using technology that requires less energy to perform the same function.
2. Renewable energy
Renewable energy provides reliable power supplies and fuel diversification, which enhance energy security
and lower risk of fuel spills while reducing the need for imported fuels. Renewable energy also helps
conserve the nation's natural resources.
Renewable energy sources play a vital role in securing sustainable energy with lower emissions
SCOPE OF WORK
• Replacing the AC Appliances with DC Appliances which will run directly on DC supply
generated from the SOLAR PANELS.
• Low Voltage DC is the future of electricity usage. Distributed generation through Solar and
energy efficient DC devices are leading the way for an efficient future.
Schematic/Functional diagram
Our main focus will be COMMERCIAL & RESIDENTIAL
LOADS.
• DC LED LIGHTS
TOTAL COST 13,650aprox.
OBJECTIVES AND CONSTRAINTS
2. We will prepare full fledged Estimate Report for implementing our idea on E
and F Block of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology
4. If time permits with help of Dr. Pawan Kumar Sir we further try to implement
Smart Energy Management and Demand Side Management over E and F Block.
Novelty of proposed idea
• Increase in the Energy Efficiency of all Electric equipments.
