Data Reclassification

How many class do we need?

If we need 5 groundwater potential zone then we need 5 reclassification classes

Understanding the concept Overlay Analysis
• Two Important Terms:

Influence and
Scale value
Influence is overall importance of layer
Scale value is importance of features in your layer: its rating value
based on importance
1 is less important 5 is more important
Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)
• AHP method relays on the hierarchical structuring of the decision
criteria which would be incorporated in decision making problems.
The hierarchy involves the knowledge, the experience and the
intuition of the decision maker (Anagnostopoulos etal.,2007).

• AHP uses the pairwise comparison matrix.

AHP-cont
Consistency Ratio(CR)

CR is less than 0.05 for a 3x3 matrix, 0.09 for a 4x4 matrix and 0.1 for
larger matrices, then the pairwise comparison matrix is said to be
consistent.
Groundwater potential index (GwPI)

Wj is the normalized weight of the j thematic layer, Xi is the rank/rate

value of each class with respect to the j layer, m is the total number of
thematic layers and n is the total number of classes in a thematic layer.
