1. Modal verbs: should / can- could/ ought to/ have to/ must + do
Subject+ modal verbs + do (SOLUTION) + in order to do something (RESULT)
The government should make public transport free in order to increase the
prosperity of living in the country.

2. By doing something (solution)

Subject+ modal verbs+ do (RESULT) by doing something (SOLUTION)


The government can make living conditions better in the country by making the
public transport free.

3. Without doing something (SOLUTION)
Subject+ modal verbs (positive / negative) + do (RESULT) + without doing something
(SOLUTION)
The government cannot make living conditions better without making the public
transport free. (Too strict/ too straightforward)

4. If Subject+ were to + do (SOLUTION), Subject + would do (RESULT)


If the government were to make the public transport free, the living conditions of
people would be better.

5. If Subject+ PAST SIMPLE VERB (SOLUTION), Subject+ would do (RESULT)


If the government MADE the public transport free, the living conditions would be
better.
HOMEWORK
Use the grammatical structures in the previous slides and write 2 solutions for
each problem. Don’t use one structure, make them diverse!!!
