 Stands for : Bangladesh Tea Research Institute

 Headquarters: Sreemangal, Moulvibazar district, Sylhet,


Bangladesh.

 Established in : 28th February, 1957


Background
 Tea industry had limited access to technology (in
1947)

 Pakistan Tea Board decided to established a tea


research station (in 1952)

 A research station was finally established at


Sreemangal on the 28th February, 1957.

 After liberation, it was named Bangladesh Tea


Research Institution (BTRI).
Remarkable Achievements

 The notable achievements of BTRI include


development of 18 high yielding, quality clones
namely- BT1, BT2, BT3, BT4, BT5, BT6, BT7,
BT8, BT9, BT10, BT11, BT12, BT13, BT14,
BT15, BT16, BT16, BT17, BT18.

 BTRI is one of the twelve National Agricultural


Research System (NARS) Institutes of
Bangladesh.

 Tea processing: Black Tea is famous in whole world. CTC
(crush, tear, curl) is the most famous method of making
Black Tea.
 CTC method has 5 steps for making Black Tea

 This division collects the economic statistical
information of the production, profit & research
of tea.

 It also collects the information of labor and wage


labor.
Conclusion

 Bangladesh is an important tea producing country.


Tea is the second largest export oriented cash crop
of Bangladesh. Bangladesh produced 63.85 million
kilograms of tea in 2012, the highest quantity.
Meanwhile, BTRI is evolving & developing the
quality of tea as well as inventing alternatives and
taking Bangladesh Tea a reputed world standard.
