 It is a language that uses words or expressions
with a meaning different from the literal
interpretation

 Makes use of exaggerations to emphasize a point

 Examples of these are Similes, Metaphors,


Hyperboles and such.
Examples
 Her necklace is a constellation of stars
against her skin.
 The weather is as sunny as a winter day in
Alaska.
 I’ve told you to clean your room a million

times!
Literal Language
 It is simply a statement of a fact as they
are.
 No hidden meanings to decipher
 It means exactly what it says.
Examples

 Let’s go to the carnival later!


 Will you come home for dinner?
 The new student forgot his home address.
