In modern times a very large number of
business transactions are made on credit
basis.In case of credit sale of goods,the
purchaser usually promises to make payment
after a certain period.In such a case,the seller
would like to get a written undertaking from
the buyer to get the payment after a fixed
period.
This is where the bills of exchange comes
into the picture.
Definition
“A Bill of exchange is an
instrument in writing containing
an unconditional order signed by
the maker, directing a certain
person to pay a certain person to
pay a certain sum of money to,or
to the order of,a certain person or
to the bearer of the instrument.”
