Purging when brazing

• Brazing oxides create problems through:
– Clogging strainers and oil circuits etc.
– Abrasion
• Large systems have increased effects
• Avoided by effective purging with oxygen free nitrogen when brazing

Electrical work

Control wiring

2-core with polarity wires are used for the Control wiring between indoor unit and
outdoor unit and Central controller wiring.
To prevent noise trouble, use 2-core shield wire.
The length of the communication line means the total length of the inter-unit wire length
between indoor and outdoor units added with the central control system wire length.
Communication line
Control wiring between indoor Wire size 1.25 mm2 (Up to 1000m)
unit and outdoor unit 2.00 mm2 (Up to 2000m)
Central control line Wire size 1.25 mm2 (Up to 1000m)
2.00 mm2 (Up to 2000m)

Remote Control wiring

Remote Control Wire size 0.5 mm2 - 2.00 mm2

The remote controller wire (Communication line) and AC 220 – 240 V wires cannot be parallel to contact each other and cannot be
stored in the same conduits. If doing so, it may cause troubles on the control system due to noise or other factor.

*For total wire length of remote controller please refer installation manual

Leak test

Never use oxygen, flammable gases, or noxious gases in an airtight test

Able to detect a serious leakage

1. Apply pressure 0.3MPa (3.0kg/cm²G) for 5 minutes or more.
2. Apply pressure 1.5MPa (15kg/cm²G) for 5 minutes or more.
Available to detect slow leakage
3. Apply pressure 4.15MPa (42.3kg/cm²G) for approx. 24 hours.

43 © 2017 Toshiba Carrier Corporation SMMS-7 Product Overview

Vacuum drying

Be sure to perform vacuuming from both liquid and gas sides.

Be sure to use a vacuum pump equipped with the counter-flow prevention

function so that oil in the pump will not flow back into piping for air
conditioners.
Use a vacuum pump with a high vacuuming degree [-100.7kPa
(-755mmHg)] and large exhaust gas amount (40 LPM or larger).

Perform vacuuming for 2 or 3 hours, though the time differs depending on the
pipe length. Check that all the packed valves at the liquid side and gas side are
fully closed.
