QUALITY ASSURANCE

AND QUALITY CONTROL

GROUP 4
AMTE 313-5B
QUALITY ASSURANCE
● According to ISO definition, it states that quality assurance is all those planned and
systematic actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that an entity will fulfill
requirements for quality.
● Quality assurance can be considered to be the sum of all actions taken to provide
assurance that the desired outputs will be attained.
● Quality assurance takes into account all aspects of a process, from planning to completion,
and identifies weak points that could be prone to the introduction of errors. In essence,
quality assurance is determining the gaps based on non-compliance with either the
regulatory requirements or organizational requirements.
AVIATION QUALITY ASSURANCE

● Aviation quality assurance is a system for monitoring aviation

equipment, programs, and procedures to ensure that the ICAO and
state civil aviation regulatory quality standards are being met
● The QA system also provides a system of inspection to ensure that
all maintenance on aircraft is properly performed according to the
manufacturer’s instructions.
AVIATION QUALITY SYSTEM
● Quality System must include a Quality Assurance Programme that contains procedures
designed to verify that all operations are being conducted in accordance with all applicable
requirements, standards, and procedures.
● The implementation and operation of a quality assurance program is usually the prime
responsibility of a Quality Manager (QM). Quality Control (QC) Department is headed by
QM in any organization.
● Quality System must include a Quality Assurance Programme that contains procedures
designed to verify that all operations are being conducted in accordance with all applicable
requirements, standards, and procedures.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

● Defined by ISO as the organizational structure, accountabilities, corporate

resources, processes, and procedures necessary to establish and promote a
system of continual improvement while delivering a product or service.
● A means of ensuring that an organization meets the requirements and
continuously improves its processes.
● To achieve high quality, a management and control system is created to
address the requirement.
QUALITY AUDITS

● The quality systems do not investigate incidents or accidents for the

risk assessment.
● focused on continuous improvement.
● All action taken must be documented, and the quality assurance
department notified. Future quality assurance audits will then track
the results of the corrective action, to verify its effectiveness.
QA Auditors
● QA auditors identify existing or potential defects and bring them to the
attention of the concerned department.
● The QA auditors have no involvement in the planning, performance,
recording, or certifying of the work audited.
● Avoids any potential conflict of interest, and emphasizes the fact that the
audit is centered upon the performance of the system as a whole, not
merely on its results.
QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA) MANUAL

The QA manual could be a special manual for QA auditors only, it could be part of the
inspection manual, or it could be a separate chapter in the TPPM as desired. The QA
manual defines the duties and responsibilities of the QA organization and defines the
processes and procedures used in the annual quality assurance audits conducted on the
M&E units, suppliers, and outside contractors. Forms used and reports are also covered
along with the procedures for follow-up and enforcement of QA write-ups.
The QA Process

Quality Assurance (QA) is a systematic process that ensures product and

service excellence. The agile QA process begins at the inception of the
software development life cycle. From the initial design meeting, through the
development phase, to final testing and hardening of the application.
Quality Assurance should consider:

● Organizational Compliance Management

● Conformance to applicable State Regulations
● Conformance to applicable Operational Requirements
● Conformance to Company’s own policy and procedures
● Ensuring that process are designed to deliver aviation services to meet
customers’/clients’ requirements.
● Compliance Audits as tools
QUALITY CONTROL

The Quality Control System has the procedures to ensure that all of the
maintenance works are compliance with all procedures outlined in this GMM in
order to keep the aircraft has airworthiness. The procedure will be conducting
and monitoring all of maintenance works
Main objectives of Quality Control

● To discover flaws or variations in the raw materials and the manufacturing

processes in order to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production.

● To evaluate the methods and processes of production and suggest further

improvements in their functioning.
Quality Control should include:

● Process Checklists
● Process Standards
● Process Documentation
● Project Audit
● Inspection
● Deliverable
● Peer Reviews
● Testing Process
Types of Quality Control

● Pre-Production Inspection (PPI)

● During Production Inspection (DPI)
● Pre-shipment inspection (PSI)
● Container loading/loading supervision (LS)
● Piece-by-piece Inspections.
What comes first? QA or QC?

Quality assurance is a proactive process which starts even before the work on
the deliverable has started, while quality control is a reactive process and its
activity starts as soon as you start working on the deliverable.
Difference of Quality Assurance and Quality Control
● Quality Assurance is aimed to avoid the defect whereas Quality control is
aimed to identify and fix the defects. Quality Assurance provides
assurance that quality requested will be achieved whereas Quality Control
is a procedure that focuses on fulfilling the quality requested and that is
within the standard that should be maintained.
● Many people think QA and QC are the same and interchangeable but this
is not true. QA and QC both are part of Quality Management however QA
is focusing on preventing defect while QC is focusing on identifying the
defect.
