CHEST PAIN

CHEST PAIN

Chest pain is the most common presentation of both cardiac and


pulmonary disease. Less frequently, it is also caused by musculo-
skeletal disorders and diseases of the gastrointestinal system.

Common causes of chest pain

Cardiac causes
• angina pectoris, pericarditis.
Pulmonary causes
• pneumonia, tuberculosis, tracheitis, pneumothorax.
Musculoskeletal
• trauma.
Gastrointestinal causes
• cholecystitis, oesophagitis.
Difference between cardiac and pulmonary chest pain
