History
Encor Ultra and Enspire
Technique and cases indication
The machine uses the power of the vacuum to suck
the lesion and then cuts it by the needle notch.
Indications:
ENCOR ENSPIRE Breast Biopsy System is
indicated to provide breast tissue samples for
diagnostic sampling of breast abnormalities.
◦ Intended to provide breast tissue for histologic
examination with partial removal of a palpable
abnormality.
◦ Intended to provide breast tissue for histologic
examination with partial or complete removal of the
imaged abnormality.
Breakdown of the machine
Probe (needle) and driver
Canister and tubing cassette

Touch screen monitor, and accessory tray

Machine setup and handling
After following the
unpacking
instructions, machine
is fully assembled
except for touch screen
and peripheral devices
(Foot Pedal, Driver).
Attach touch screen to
the articulating arm.
Connect power and
communication cables.
Connect Power Cable and
lock with clip
◦ Power breaker must be in
“On” position
Connect Driver
◦ Two driver connection ports
Connect Foot Pedal
Turn on with Standby
Power Switch
◦ Power-up takes about 1.5
minutes
◦ Power-down requires
holding the standby switch
for ~3 seconds
Secure caps on the top prior to installation
Lift the “doors” and install canister
Connect tubing
Ensure that cassette is vertical when
installing
Listen for “snap”
Connect the tubing
of the cassette
to the canister
Handling
Red: Needle notch
Yellow: Pending
sample area
Blue: Sampled area
Gray: unsampled
area
Realtime feedback
during sampling
process
 Initiate Anesthetic Mode at any time in the
process
 Some facilities will administer anesthetic every
procedure before initiating the sampling process
 If in Anesthetic or Marker Mode, must use
SAMPLE to close cannula (without cutting
tissue) before able to return to Sample Mode
 Sampling process can only be initiated by
SAMPLE on handpiece or foot pedal – never
from the touch screen
Opens the cannula for marker deployment
Once the marker is in place and deployed,
rotate aperture 180°
Benefits
Smart features
◦ Easier user interface (touch screen)
◦ Real time feedback of both needle orientation
and notch
◦ Palm sized driver (plus light weight)
◦ Largest needle size in market (7G)
◦ Very sharp needle tip (tricuspid concave)
◦ Multi modality flexibility
◦ Power off requires holding
Impact on Physician Experience
◦ Single insertion, multiple sampling
◦ Excision for B3 benign lesions (minimal
invasive)
◦ Needle tip and size
◦ Easier, yet accurate sampling
◦ Faster procedure time
◦ Overcome surgical conflicts specially in
patients with specific conditions
Impact on the Patient Experience
◦ More comfort, less anexity
◦ Less time on patient bed
◦ Patient gets more attentions
◦ Faster healing process
◦ No scar is left after the procedure
