ACTIVITY FOR

LESSON 12
ARISTOTLE’S VIRTUE ETHICS
SUMMARY OF THE VIRTUE
THEORY
The theory that I've learned while watching the virtue
theory is we should evaluate the character instead of action base
on Aristotle point of view. In the video it mention that we're also
"the rational animal" and a social animal, so our function also
involves using reason and getting along with our pack, which I
agree because both animals and humans has some similarity
regarding on how we provide food, our way of living but not in
physical appearance.
HISTORY OF DEATH PENALTY
• The Philippines has a long history Under the Marcos regime, drug trafficking
was added to the list of crimes punishable by
with capital punishment, but it death. Electric chairs were the primary
was most recently suspended in instrument for execution during Marcos’
the year 2006 and replaced with time, which were replaced by firing squads
the life imprisonment and in 1976. When Marcos was overthrown
during the 1986 People Power Revolution,
reclusion perpetua. the Philippines became the first country in
Asia to abolish death penalty by virtue of the
1987 Constitution.
• In 1946, murder, rape, and
treason were grounds for the
Death penalty was reinstated under the rule
death penalty. Until 1961, 51 of then-President Fidel Ramos, which used
were sentenced to death by the gas chambers and electric chairs to dispense
law. This number soared high judgment. Executions continued until the
second suspension of the death penalty
under the leadership of under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo,
strongman Ferdinand Marcos. who suspended it under Republic Act No.
9346 in 2006.
SUMMARIZE THE INTERVIEW
In summary of the interview I have notice that they have a
different opinion where in the first respondent says that for him he
choose death penalty. He chose it not because he believe that a person
will never change and they do not regret the wrongs they have made
over time. I also chose it not because I have no fear of God and do not
believe that he alone has the power to take back of our lives. For him,
it is very important that this be implemented so that people who have
lost loved ones can achieve the justice they pray out for. The hope that
that person would feel the same way he did. As human beings we have
the decision to be human, but some forget this word. Sending out to
temptation, anger and whatever it feels like to be able to do
abominable things. Let us first consider whether we are doing the
right thing, for it is no joke that those who have lost loved ones feel
jealous. Justice is the only want, so justice must be given.
SUMMARIZE THE INTERVIEW
However, the opinion of the second respondent is differs from the
opinion of the first respondent. For her, The death penalty is unjust and
morally wrong. When someone murders to someone else, the correct
punishment is not to murder him or her, but to try and help them. “It would be
degrading to the penal authorities. It would appear to condone the crime by
repeating it. It would be a wanton cruelty.” (140) Why do we murder the
murderers? The death penalty takes focus away from the victims and focuses
the attention on the criminal. She believes that in order the people to pay the
things they have done to others, the best way to do is to take them to a prison
and to give them a chance to change but if they do that again she think that
it’s was a right time to punish them.
